Second Draft

Yesterday I edited the first few pages of my script. I would post the opening scene, but this post box on here removes all the formatting, and pretty much makes the script unreadable.

Never mind.

Forget about what I said earlier about not having an idea...I just thought of something awesome, although it will definitely be too hard to film. I'll probably still write it, though, and maybe post some of it soon.

Out of ideas

Now that The Decayed is finished, I'm trying to think of good idea for another screenplay. I'm trying to think of an idea that's good, but isn't too hard for me to film like my last script was.

So far since the end of April, I've started outlining three different screenplays, one of them comedy and the other two horror. I might go with one of those ideas, but right now I'm not sure.

I'll post some of my new idea when I decide on what to do. For now, though, I have to edit the script I already wrote.

Guess what?

I won Script Frenzy! My page count goal was 80, but I ended up getting 117 pages. Now I just have to edit my script...

Update

I'm planning on writing an unofficial 39 Clues novella (short novel) and posting it on the 39 Clues message board this May. It's currently called "The Mosaic of History" although that if definitely subject to change.

I don't know if any of the few people who actually read this blog have read any of the 39 clues books, but anyway, I'll probably end up posting a link to my 39 clues story sometime soon.

By the way, "The Decayed," my graphic novel is going pretty good. I haven't been working on it much lately, but it will (hopefully) be finished by the 30th.

"The Decayed" book cover

Here's the book cover for "The Decayed," my graphic novel I'm writing. It isn't the final cover, though, but just the basic idea.

Whatta ya think?

130 pages!

I decided to convert my script from a screenplay to a graphic novel script. (If you don't already know, most people write a script before they actually start drawing a graphic novel.)

So, on the script writing software I use, it automatically converts the script to whatever format you want. So I told it to convert my screenplay to a graphic novel script, and it turns out it's about 130 pages as a graphic novel script. YES!

Update

My script is now about 60% complete...I worked on it pretty much all day yesterday, and got about twenty pages. (Yeah, I know, I'm a slow typer.)

Here's an except...

Here's a small excerpt from my script I'm writing this April. It's about thirty pages so far, and I'm hoping I can reach eighty or more before the 30th.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - morning
Carl sits at the table as usual. Across from him are Dan, a cop, and Ron, the police chief.

RON
You need to tell us something.

CARL
How can I? I didn't do it,
so I have nothing to tell you.
I don't even know anything!

Ron looks at Dan.

DAN
We should tell him. It might
make him want to talk to us.

Ron turns to Carl.

RON
All right. They've found
something in the crater.

cut to:

EXT. CRATER
A split second scene of the crater. Two cops are walking around it.

cut to:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM

CARL
What?
cut to:

EXT. CRATER
Another split second scene of the crater. Two cops are still walking around it.

cut to:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM
RON
Bones.

*   *   *
And by the way, I know it isn't formatted very well. I copy/pasted it over from Celtx, and all the formatting was automatically removed.

It's a little confusing, I know. That's because this scene takes place on, like, page twenty.

But basically, Carl is accused of murdering people in the town. A large crater then appears later outside the town, and the police suspect that Carl is disposing of his victims in the hole. In this scene, they actually find bones in the crater, so we now are almost completely sure Carl did it.

"Decayed"

How about that for a title? I'm either going to go with "The Decayed" or "Decayed" or "The Decay." I might make a sequel to it called "The Death" but I'm not very sure. Or maybe I could call the script I'm wiritng now "The Death." I really like that title, because it sounds like you're talking about death as a noun, which is creepy. (By the way, The Death is actually a plague that turns victims into zombies.)

21%

As of yesterday, my screenplay was 21% complete, and I'm only on day 3!

Um...that's all.

Just a few more hours...

I'm getting on the computer at midnight tonight to start writing my script, because that's when Script frenzy officially starts. I'm hoping I can write at least ten pages, but I'll have to stay awake long enough.

Can't decide...

I can't think of a good title for my script. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, except this April, there's a contest going on on the Script Frenzy site where you can enter your script, and have a chance to win a professionally designed poster for your scipt.

And when you enter, you must give your script name...I'm either going with "Crater," "The Scientist," or "The Death." I'm kind of going with "The Death" because "Crater" sounds kind of boring.

But I'll think of something later.

5 days...

Man, I can't wait! Script Frenzy starts in five days!

I'm completely ready to start writing. My script is outlined, and I'm excited to finally be able to write it soon.

I really can't stress how important it is to write a sumary of your script/novel before you start writing. My first book wasn't pre-outlined, and when I started writing, I had a lot of trouble keeping the storyline from unravelling.

But the script I'm writing this year (currently called "Crater," although that is definitely subject to change) has a great plot, or at least compared to my first novel.

Anyway, I'm still thinking about turning my script into a movie...I'm not an adult, and filmmaking isn't my job, so it isn't like I have all kinds of crazy deadlines to work with. I have all the time in the world to make a movie, so it probably WILL eventually get filmed...that is, if I finish the 100 page script before April 30.

Wolfbreed

Sorry for two posts in one day, but I forgot to post this earlier.

Here's a picture of my band logo, made by my friend, who is the lead singer and bass player:

Crater

For now, my script will be titled "Crater." I know, it's a pretty lame title, but I'll try to think of a better one later.

Anyway, I've been thinking about filming my script after I finish it...but the problem is, I don't think I will be able to find enough good actors. There's also a part near the end of the movie where these zombie-things dig their way out from underground, and start killing everyone in sight. And that could be a little hard to film in a low-budget movie. So...anyone want to give me $60,000,000 to make a movie?

Friday, March 25, 2011

Finally.

I finished outlining my script...meaning I wrote a complete summary of it, so this April, all I have to do is start writing, and I don't have to think of any ideas.

Mom, look! A beaver dang!

We found a beaver dam a little ways away from our house. They built it in a creek beside the road, causing the creek to overflow. Now, a small part of the woods is flooded.

Death Troopers movie poster

I was bored today, so I scanned the Death Troopers book cover onto my computer, and edited it some in Picasa.

Friday, March 18, 2011

YES!

It's here! I just got my proof-copy of my book in the mail today!

It should be available on Amazon soon, so when it's released, I'll probably post a link to it. It would be awesome to have a few readers...

By the way, if anyone at all is reading this, and you have written a book, I would seriously reccomend using createspace.com. It only costs a few dollars ($3.00 for me) to publish. And if you already have used create space, awesome. Please leave a comment with a link to where your book is being sold, and I would be happy to buy it.

Actually, no.

Forget what I just posted about the new Skeleton Creek videos coming out...they aren't, even thought today is the release date! Aargh!

The Raven

Finally! The new Skeleton Creek videos for The Raven were released on sarafincher.com today. If you don't know what i'm talking about, I suggest you read Skeleton Creek.

Also, I started reading a Spiderman graphic novel last night...I stayed up pretty late and read most of it, and it's a lot better than I thought it would be. Instead of just being a comic about an average superhero who constantly fights crime, it's a really good story.

I must go now and watch some videos on the Skeleton Creek website...

Guess who's a published author?

Just finished editing my book I wrote for NanoWrimo today. I submitted it to create space, and I should be getting a free copy in the mail. My book also should be available on Amazon, but right now I can't find it. If you do a search for The Vegas Spy, it might come up, but I think it takes a few days for it to be posted. By the way, here's a preview of my book.

YES! I'm so excited!

The Band

(Sorry for the two posts in one day, but I really wanted to post this.)

Guess what? Me and my friend's metal band, Wolfbreed, just finished writing our first song yesterday, and can now play through the entire thing. YES! We're a real band now!

Yes! I got it...

I just thought of a good idea for a screenplay last night, so now I have a basic idea of what I'm going to write during Script Frenzy. But I already have enough other projects to do right now, so I won't end up actually writing the script until April, when Script Frenzy starts. (If you haven't already signed up for Frenzy, you really should, by the way.)

Monday, February 28, 2011

Gah! I can't decide!

You've probably already heard this, but this April, I'm planning on writing an entire script in thirty days. For more details, see this site.

Anyway, even though it's about a month away, I'm still trying to think of an idea for what to write. I've got a few horror movie ideas, so I might want to go with one of those. Or maybe I could do an action/thriller kind of thing.

But I have to finish editing my novel before I start on a script, though until I start writing, I should get an idea.

The two stick people who were almost killed by an eraser but survived and lived long, happy lives.

Here's my latest video I just filmed a few minutes ago. It's a little confusing, but basically, two stick people appear on a dry erase board. One of them has no head at first, but it appears later. And then, an evil paper towel walks across the board, but our two heroes miraculously survive. Curtain.

The Hunger Games movie

It's going to be awesome. I read all of the books in the series last year, and now The Hunger Games is second on my list of favorite books. (Number one is Harry Potter, of  course.) And it's still one of my favorite books, even though Mockingjay, the last book in The Hunger Games series was kind of a let down for me. I'm just going to leave it at that for those of you who haven't read it yet.

Cupcake Deathmatch

Here's a video I made today with my stop motion kit. I'm still making a lot of test videos, but I'm currently writing a screenplay adaption of Star Wars: Death Troopers, a book by Joe Schreiber. It's basically about a bunch of zombies that attack a prison barge in the middle of space, and Han Solo and Chewbacca get caught in the middle of it. The book is about 234 pages long, and so far, I'm about halfway done with the script, which is 41 pages long so far.

Anyway, I kinda gave up on the whole PumpkiNed thing...or at least for now. I realized soon after getting the stop motion kit that this script was way too elaborate, even for a stop motion film. I might try to do something with the storyline later, but for now, I'm busy making a zombie horror film with Legos. (And yes, Star Wars zombie horror movies are easier to make than a movie about a guy with a pumpkin for a head. Or at least I hope. I haven't actually started filming Death Troopers yet.)

Posting again

I haven't been posting much lately because of Christmas and everything, but I'll probably start posting more now.
By the way, I did get the stop motion animation kit, so I'm making my own movies now. I'll probably post one of them once I finish one, but right now I'm just playing around with the camera and making test movies.
